There is level access to the main entrance doors. These powered doors are opened using a Bodleian Readers Card; the proximity card reader is to the right of the doors and at an accessible height for wheelchair users.

Once through the doors, you’ll find yourself in a large lobby area containing the porter’s lodge, locker rooms, standard and accessible toilets, and the entrance to the library.

The doors into the library are also powered; the proximity card reader is to the right of the doors on the safety barrier. Inside the library there are powered access controlled gates; wheelchair users will need to use the wider gate to the right. The proximity card reader is on a pillar to the right hand side as you enter the library.

There is one lift located at the rear of the library. This gives access to all floors, with the exception of the Haverfield Room (which largely houses Numismatics and Antiquities material). Access to this room is via seven steps. The library can provide a fetching service for this material if needed.

The doors to the lift lobby are powered on the ground, first and second floors. The doors to the lift lobby are not powered on the third floor. The lift entrance has a button panel on the left hand side, with Braille markings and large buttons.
